Omnison is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to fill the position of Sound Technician

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Director, and under the supervision of the Head Soundman, this position will be required to work in a variety of venues.

General Responsibilities

• Facilitate the design and rigging of sound systems at each set-up;
• Replace other sound operators at various functions during performances as needed (monitors, room);
• Replace other technicians at different functions during performances as needed;
• Ensure that all aspects of sound-related operations are functioning effectively during rehearsals and performances;
• Ensure the safety of the sound equipment at all times;
• Participate in the maintenance, repair and modification of sound equipment;
• Ensure that sound equipment is properly set up and complies with the show concept;
• Observe safety standards and regulations for sound equipment and use safe work practices;
• Comply with and support procedures and requirements for the management of Omnison equipment and inventory;
• Use the tools and procedures provided to manage inventory and equipment data;
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Sound Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Schooling: College degree (or equivalent) in entertainment production, theatrical production, sound technology or electronics (or equivalent work experience);
• Have at least three (3) years of experience as a sound technician;
• Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show, an asset;
• Experience with chain motor operations, loudspeakers and arena sound rigging.
